The world entered a new millennium and on 30th of June the same year, Saldo was founded by entrepreneurs Madeleine and Mattias Segerbrand. The company was initially focused on helping café and restaurant businesses, as the founders had their backgrounds in just that.
It was not long before more industries were represented in Saldo's client base and together with a few employees at the office, then located on Västmannagatan in Stockholm, Madeleine and Mattias worked tirelessly to improve the daily lives of their clients and to build a wonderful and family-like workplace.
Broad and solid knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting, tax and how to run a business has always been available at Saldo but during the first 10 years of the firm, all bookkeeping work was done in a very traditional way. For those of you who do not know, this meant manually sorting through invoices and receipts that came to us in huge piles, punching numbers into sluggish systems and saving everything in countless amounts of binders. Tedious and very time consuming. For us to have the capacity to develop the business, a change was needed.
We have several crucial years in the history of Saldo, 2010 was one of them. That is when our current CEO Matias Aphram started his internship with us. It was the start of our journey from the analogue to the digital way of working, a change we needed.
The transition was far from the easiest thing we have done. We took the leap into the digital world by jumping off a cliff, not literally but the feeling was there, from one day to the next. Yes, quite right, it was a total disaster at first. A tough but incredibly rewarding period. A period that mapped out our future and a hell of a spirit, that is with us to this day.
By the time the hardship was over, we had managed to find tools and working patterns that were very successful, for both our clients and us. Along the way, we found great people who were attracted by our new way of working. We were also noticed in the industry. Three times we were nominated for the most prestigious award "Future Agency of the Year". The last time we were nominated we won, this was back in 2017. Since then, we have evolved even more and we work hard and purposefully to always be at the forefront, as a company and in our industry.
Every event in our history has made Saldo what it is today. It has created a company that exudes quality, courage, knowledge, proactivity, awareness, sustainability and, not least, commitment and innovation. And it shows.
Digital accounting is obviously a big part of us, but we are much more than that. 2021 was the year we became part owners of an IT company, added.digital, which can do wonders for us and our clients business and systems development, and the same year we also started another sister company, Gigi Day, which means we can offer first class business coaching.
It is with joy, anticipation and a burning drive that we enter 2023. Some of the highlights we are looking forward to are the expansion of our office in Stockholm and Östersund, but most of all we are looking forward to witnessing the continued development of our employees and to help our clients achieve more growth, profitability and success.
